I'm 5'9 ~210lb. The Slayer was all the stability I needed and faster and easier to paddle than the Big Rig. It's a great boat, just didn't feel it fit my needs.

A friends son has a Hobie peddle, not sure which model, but he and a buddy entered the Texas Water Safari, which has sections with a lot of rocks in it. He's a real sharp young man and designed a forward looking sonar system that gave them warning about underwater obstacles. I think it worked pretty well.

Did you get the PEDDLE version or the non PEDDLE version?

I only keep adding PEDDLE in every post in all caps to irritate the grammar nazis

so mad

You good people gujitsu

Seriously though, are you more worried about covering distance? If so the foot propelled craft will probably be better.

Yeah, I can drive myself crazy when it comes to spending any kind of significant amount of money especially if it's for something that will affect something I'm doing. I'll have to just try them out where I fish the most and see what I like. I'll eventually end up getting another paddle and a pedal.

Did anyone tell him it's pedal yet or ask him what goods he's peddling?

But my ascend is fine for me. I like it a lot for the money I paid. I can stand and fish fine and I like paddling. The distance thing isn't really an issue because if that's the case I have a mud boat and cajun special w/ outboard to use. The yak is just for quick trips/the challenge.

I see a lot of people arguing for peddle vs paddle bc of the pain in the arse of setting down the paddle to pick up the pole to fish. I agree it can be a pain in the arse, but this guy has a pretty good solution to minimizing the time and noise it creates. He has a clip on his belt that he can lock his paddle into.

Paddle belt clip

Pretty good idea. I can't stand up in mine, though. Well technically I can, but it's only for about 3 seconds.

I've been thinking about bowfishing out of the kayak and I can't think of a way to paddle and be able to take a quick shot.
