I'm looking at changing from traditional 15-0-15 fertilizer for my centipede lawn to Milorganite or Holganix. Has anyone used organic fertilizer, and if so, are there any differences between these two?

Usually the nutrients in organic fertilize are not soil available for a few months. It’s also hard to get a good read on what nutrients you are actually getting and in what quantity.

I use Milorganite to supplement regular synthetic fertilizers. It has iron that helps with the green up and trouble spots. Holganix worked but not enough difference between the two to justify the price.

I'm using milorganite for the first time this year. Tractor supply has it pretty cheap.

Make sure to use another (usually synthetic) fert in addition to Milorganite. If used exclusively Milorganite won't feed your lawn correctly unless you feed it several times a year (which most people will skip). Get a soil sample analyzed by LSU Ag to make sure you know what you need.
