an older hunter once told me he killed a dove in Louisiana that was banded 2 days before in Wisconsin. Said when he called it in they asked him to repeat the number and said something along the lines of "sir, this is why we band birds to get this kind of information, this dove was banded 2 days ago in Wisconsin...."

Lived his entire life in that armpit of the state? Poor bastard probably committed suicide by hunter, flew straight to the nearest group of drunk coonasses he could find on the first day of hunting season.
