I posted a zpap above that I just got from Atlantic. Chrome lined barrel and bulged trunnion. I wouldn’t mind a pistol version

Get arsenal, wasr, veprs, new zpap mak90 maadi. stay away from cast trunions and bolt carriers. So essentially no American ak unless someone has started making forged trunions. I heard palmetto was trying but we're still having issues. It's like would you want to buy a foreign made at?

Do not under any circumstances buy a ras47. If u do buy Anything century has imported and finger fricked then go over rifle very carefully and then it's still a crap shoot.

I'd stay away from WASR's personally but I know they have some decent ones out there. I guess only buy it if you can go over it thoroughly and possibly can even shoot it. My friend got a complete POS years ago. It did not feed correctly and jammed alot. It was a single stack magazine well that had been opened up to accept double stack mags and had the rails welded in. We played with it any got it to work. Front sight was canted also.

Wasr had some issues years ago but for the last several years they improved and were a good entry AK before the prices rose. This guy has 10k rounds though his and the first 5k he puts them through hell. Worth a watch if you haven't seen it before. Arsenals are not without there issues too...and they are over priced IMO...more so now. My wasr 10 has been flawless since 2016/17 I think when I got it. The problem is not the AK market has dried up some. PSA is making some decent ones in there latest versions.

For real tho avoid the RAS 47s

The WASR rifles run and run well. The biggest issue they use to have tended to center around canted sights. As for aesthetics, the wood stocks are cheap but a plethora of stocks exist to fix that issue. The finish is rough but works and if some one wants, it can be refinished.

Henderson Defense runs WASR in post sample form at their firing range in Vegas. Interesting thing is that they hold just as well if not better than any other AKs including Arsenals. Tough rifles. Damn shame they went up in price.

Years ago we took a Friend's WASR and refinished the furniture by sanding it and staining it a deep red. Put a clear coat on it after and it looked fine. Almost looked like a Russian AK

This is my AK collection at this point:

Top rifle is a Romanian WASR-10 underfolder.
Bottom is a Bulgarian AKS-74

Russian Saiga. I got this years ago when they were cheap and I just did a basic conversion on it. I would like to eventually have it professionally converted into a proper AK-103.

Chinese milled receiver MAK-90. Picked this up for a really good price about a year ago. It’s probably the smoothest and “nicest” feeling AK I own. Likely will have the proper gas block and front sight block installed on it one day so I can put a cleaning rod and bayonet on it.

Yugo (Serbian) M92 pistol that I SBR’ed.

This has been on my “to do list” for a while, but just can’t seem to get around to it.

I’ve got a WASR and an NPAP. Of the two I prefer the WASR.

I got them both about four years ago. If I remember right the WASR was $400 and the NPAP was a little over $500.

Wow! Damn you guys got some serious collections . Everytime I’m close to buying one, something else shows up.

I just bought a Chinese SKS from PSA, and it’s amazing. Definitely is used, but not abused.

Then I had a few on the watchlist and saw an FN Scar 17-s for $1500 and had to jump on that.

The AK will come and y’all have given me insight because I really want a pre ban but it seems there are a lot of options

Noland, on your WBP pistola the rear rivet pattern looks like an underfolder rear trunnion. Does it have one?

I got one of those surplus type 56 SKS a few years ago as well and I really like it. The stock was beat up but has a lot of character. Even has the soldier’s name carved in it.

Yes it’s a proper rear under-folder trunnion. Problem is I don’t like the feel of a under folder much so idk if I’ll keep it. It also side rail for a scope mount so I’d guess you have to remove that if you wanted a UF.

I don’t like the pistol braces on a AK much and want to sbr some. Just don’t know what. I’d like a side folder (SLR stock and hand guard) and one with a fixed wood stock. I wish I got a RH10 before the nonsense started to sbr for a wood stock shawty. Can you add a wood stock to a pistol version? Don’t think so

Pretty much same feeling here. I have 2 underfolders because the parts kit for that model had them and I had them built up as a close clone. Not most comfortable but its one of these every AK owner should own one for their collection.

I'd like another sbr AK down the road and will most likely do a fixed buttstock. All my current ones are either AK100 folders, yugo underfolder or hungarian wire folder. If you go combloc folding route and don't mind the fact that you can't lock the folder left while having an optic mounted using the side rail, the 100 folders are nice. If you want folding 100% time with an optic, you'll want a top mount. I like them but the cost goes up rather bigly.

IMHO if you plan on using side rail mounted optics, go with a fixed stock. Its cheaper, tons of plastic and wood stocks and the Warsaw length stocks aren't overly long.

One great thing going for AK-47 owners is that ammo is plentiful and still relatively cheap with little increase in price compared to what us AR-15 owners are going through.

Palmetto State Gen 3. Anybody heard anything on them? Just need it to go bang when you pull the trigger.
