You can’t cast it over hand of it will twirl and tangle in the line. I always lo it side arm and it seems to fix that problem. You can also Bend the wires out more to help with tangling.

Is the Jackhammer really better than their other model chatterbaits, and if so, why?

From what I hear... Yes.

I don't know, I saw the price tag and grabbed the "other model" chatterbait I've been using.

I wasn't a big fan of them until last year when my buddy's dad was fishing in the back of my boat and caught an 8 pound 4 oz. at Fork with a chartruese and white one.

Yes it is. It is just louder. You can really feel the vibrations in the rod. Also the hooks are super strong. I haven't had a fish bend one of those hooks on me.

I was skeptical, but it is tuned/shaped better. It starts vibrating within the first quarter-turn of the reel handle, there’s no “lift off” where it needs to get level and going before the blade starts thumping. It’s a tighter chatter as well, which I think makes it seem more like a panicked shad than the cheaper ones.

Friday looks good and Saturday isn't looking too bad. Low around 40, high of 60ish both days. Chance of rain increases Saturday evening/night.

Winds 5 mph Friday, increasing to 8 to 10 on Saturday.

That's rippin' traps in these new multi acre grass flats I'm hearing about weather.

Looking like Friday the 17th. New rods/reels come in this week. Gotta go buy line. Going to give shitty arse fluoro one more chance.

I took my boat to Bistineau Saturday just to run it and make sure everything was working.

Fished 4 hours and caught 2. 1 on a wacky worm and 1 on a chatter bait.

Now I'm ready to pull down to Toledo. I wish I could sneak off tomorrow...

ETA: Did you see all the 10 pounders caught at the Toledo MLF event this past weekend?

Cody Pitt of Elmer, Louisiana, caught this 13 lb 6 oz pound fish on February 4, 2023, and weighed it at the MLF-Phoenix Bass Fishing League tournament held on Toledo Bend Lake.
