It is hard to describe quality over the internet. You can't really understand it until it is in your hands. Kind of like closing the door of a $200k Benz vs a $25k Malibu. Both of my favorites were under $140

I have a few fixed blades that are more expensive though

This is true, but like I said, most of the people on this board will think you're nuts for spending more than $50 on a pocket knife. One of you guys with a Chris Reeves knife needs to come forward!

I'm backwards...the most expensive fixed blade I have is an ESEE.

for you Kershaw spring assisted knife owners, any of your springs break yet?

Mine broke last year and I mailed it in. They repaired, cleaned, and sharpened it and I got it back in less than 2 weeks.

Great customer service.

I have the Kershaw random leek with the S30v steel, and the composite leek with sandvik 1660 cb ss on the top of the blade with cpm-D2 tool SS held together with brass on bottom. They cost a little more for the upgraded steel, but they have held an edge and are the sharpest knives Ive ever had. As far as springs breaking The random broke, I called them and they immediately rushed me the parts or said I could send it back and they would fix it free, They have a lifetime warrenty and will even sharpen your knives free for life. Still they were close to $100 for the random and cheaper than that for the composite, which also came with a lined case.
I mean free lifetime parts, repairs and free sharpening for life! Just ask for a new spring , they will have you one quick, while you are at it ask for an extra spring, they don't care ,best customer service Ive ever seen ,and springs are very easy to change.

As for opening in pocket ,that's what the safety is for. I cant see how it could happen anyway. All you need to change springs is 5 min. and a #6 torq(that you can get from Kershaw also.)
