Family vacation in Oahu in June and may try to book a fishing trip for me and my son. Did some searches here and some google and it doesn’t look very promising but just curious if anyone has some information on a guide they recommend.
Not trying to land a grander but don’t want to troll for 8hrs and catch a kingfish and a bonito and have the guide tell me how we “just missed them” and reality that’s all they ever catch!!!

I went in Maui and hired an all day charter with some family/friends. Not. One. Bite. after it was over, the captain THEN says, "yeah we usually do better in the winter months."

Its a tough place to fish BUT there is some fantastic bone fishing to be had and it can be done on your own if you don't mind wading and catching them on a spinning reel. There is a massive flat at Sand Island State Recreation Area that produces some nice bonefish. They are also caught off Fort DeRussy Beach. They ain't finicky like bonefish in most of the world....they will eat a white crappie jig with abandon when they are present.

Yeah looking at some of the Fb pages of various charters it doesn’t look very promising. Probably just skip it and do all the other tourist stuff instead.

A quick Google search shows multiple web pages suggest summer is the best time to fish and winter is the worst? If you have tuna fished out of Louisiana I don’t think it’s nearly as worth it just because fishing is fishing.

Everyone I've ever known to fish in hawaii on a charter hasn't done worth a shite.

Yeah that’s what has me cautious my only offshore trips have been Venice. I may just book a trip for me and my son at a different time in Venice lol.
I guess we will go see how pineapples are grown and learn how to surf
