Start looking in the fall. I picked up a bunch 2 years wand planted in paper cups. They are about 18” tall now and in pots.
Also, check Mossy Oak Native Nurseries. They have a good selection and the trees I’ve gotten from them grow quickly .

I am not sure I have any nuttall trees around. I would love to find someone that may have some for sale. I have like 200 sawtooth acorns I picked up and started planting in 5 gallon containers but want some nuttall trees to go along with them.

If you can find them in the fall, put them in a ziplock then in the fridge for 40 days. Many acorn trees need a certain amount of chill time

I've been growing trees from acorns for over 10 years now. I'm just starting to see some of the first trees I planted start to produce acorns of their own and it's pretty rewarding. Glad you are enjoying it.

I'm not sure where to buy Nuttall acorns but you can buy saplings at most nurseries that carry oak trees. Nativ Nurseries is a good source. If you are planting these for deer then I would recommend planting a few more species as well. Shumard, Swamp Chestnut Oak, White Oak, Willow Oak to name a few. I find that deer in different locations eat different types of acorns. For example at my property they don't really eat Sawtooth or Nuttall acorns nearly as much as they eat Willow and Water Oak acorns. This is much different than what most people observe. So with that in mind I would plant as many species as you can just to make sure you are growing whatever the deer prefer in your area.

Buy some bare root seedlings from a nursery, Cypress bRake in Rayville had good trees when I bought some in 2016.

Tree Nurseries - LA

I wouldn't plant sawtooth anywhere.

What's your soil type? Nuttalls grow in heavy clay delta soils, think Tensas parish sloughs. If a higher site i'd plant cherry bark/southern red. I'd plant what grows on your site naturally.
