You're not doing something right. They are pretty easy to get sharp.

I like a fixed blade with a generous curve and a good handle for skinning. A gut hook for unzipping him, the skinning knife for skinning, pocket knife for blunt work like hocking legs and splitting ribs, and a fillet knife for de-boning if I chose to do so.

If only using one knife, that 4th deer will be a bitch. I usually just hit it on that hand sharpener a few times before each deer and it's good to go. Lansky it every year or 2.
I might use it 2 or 3 times a year

A pair of snips and/or bow saw do just fine for bone

Noooooooooo
A good hand saw is leagues better than a sawzall IMO. A sawzall is just too damn messy.

If you have a good saw yes they are great. Pruners are great also.

Oh, and I carry a CRKT folder in my fanny pack. I've used it on a few deer when I did not have that set available. Did fine, but I missed the hook.

In your what? Excuse me for a minute. It's not nice to laugh at someone directly in their face.

I just know I can do a better job with my really good meat saw than I can with a sawzall. I end up working harder with a sawzall by the time it's all over with. It's all effortless with a good hand saw.

Working harder? Tha frick
You do know you behave to pull that trigger on that thing for it to work right?

I've never had a problem using a big pair of loppers for the neck, pelvis and legs, bow saw for the pelvis on a big deer. Not much work or time.
