did the same thing, went for a 270 WSM about 2008. Shot it for 15 years and went back to a .270 X bolt last year. The WSM ammo was hard to find and the gun/cartridge were hard to make shoot consistently.

I did also. I sold my Browning 270wsm 3 years ago because I couldn't find brass for it anymore. Got a custom 7mm rem mag. I could have got a 7mm PRC but I went with the 7RM because I'll never have problems finding brass and it's been here forever. It's not going anywhere.

I have one of those too in the go wild camo, great gun with plenty of kills on it.

The reason I put the optic I did is because we were actually driving to the ranch in South Texas about 8 Hour Dr. and we had his Christmas gift in the backseat, which was the rifle without an optic. So we made a pitstop outside of Houston to an academy sports and that’s pretty much what they had in stock that would reach out and touch something under $600.

So I bought that scope and it’s been working pretty good. He’s been laying critters down with it ever since. If it fails, I will most certainly consider a massive upgrade and optic quality, but so far no regrets.

That rough tech finish is beautiful in ember and of all the great guns I have my son prefers that Tikka every time. Low recoil and straight shooting.

Caliber is the hardest choice. You can buy a wide variety of 308, 270, 30-06 bullets almost anywhere. Then there are the 7mm08, 25-06 and 6.5creedmore that are all good rifles that are harder to find the right ammo for off the shelf. But regardless of caliber I’d go Tikka. Can’t beat them

I've been debating between a .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. I'll probably go with whichever one is cheaper when I go get a rifle. Super new hunter, won't be going all in this season (probably gun, scope, harness, and one tree stand.

Get the 308 and don't look back.

I think you guys sold me. Plus I'd like a .308 JAKL whenever they go 18 inch barrels.
