New ATF Rule: Non-NFA firearms can now be delivered directly to your door...

Title of rule: “Revising Non-Over-the-Counter Firearms Transaction Requirements”
It doesn't really mean what it sounds like... at least to me.

Basically, instead of going into your local gun store to pick up the firearm, you video conference with them, they verify your identity by comparing you to an uploaded copy of your driver's license, and a digital 4473 form. Oh yeah, you both have to reside in the same state.
This might work if you live in New Orleans but there's a gun store in Monroe that has a gun you want for a good price. You basically conduct the transaction/background check remotely and they can ship you the firearm.

The proposed rule would expand non-over-the-counter (NOTC) firearms transfers by Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs). Currently, buyers must purchase their Gun Control Act (GCA) firearms in person from dealers. Under the new rule, dealers in the same state as the buyer will be allowed to sell and ship firearms directly to customers without requiring them to visit a physical store.

Makes perfect sense. Hell, the government will already ship a gun to your door if you buy through the CMP.

Only rifles not pistols.

It’s a step. I’ll take it. Not sure I’d trust USPS on the shipping though.
