Yeah thats what I was thinking but the Venture HC is only 169.00 and thats not too bad.

The first one he posted will do this easily. The reason I brought up the topos is I hike in an area with alot of box canyons.....it sucks having to backtrack because you couldnt tell thre is a vertical cliff up ahead.

Just think about it though. You may ONLY need it for marking waypoints right now, but once you see the usefullness of the equipment, you'll wish you could do more.

Couldn't agree with you more. That is why I wanted some opinions. That is all I am using it for right now but later I may use it for other things.

Garmin Dakota 20 is what I am looking at. If you get the itch it will do a lot.

have the garmin Dakota 10 and I love it, very easy to use and great signal strength in heavy woods.
