Have a new 2026 club car onward cart. Daughter wants LED lights so I bought some aftermarket lights. Apparently, there is wiring from the ignition under the passenger side strut cover, which I found. There are 3 wires: red, black and brown. Apparently the brown wire is supposed to be ignition dependent (so it won’t drain battery if key isn’t on) but when I put the red wire from the lights to it, no power even with key on. My voltometer is broke, just curious if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks in advance

Some of the wiring on that cart is 48 volts. You may have fried the 12 volt lights immediately. You need a new voltmeter to do this correctly.

Hopefully the fuse took the brunt of it.

It may be easiest to purchase a stepdown voltage converter. If you have a 48v system, look for a 48v to 12v converter on Amazon. They are cheap and will give you 12v which you can hook up accessories to. Also order a new voltmeter while you are at it.

I don't think 48V at 1amp is the same as 12V at 1 amp to a 12V item.

That wire should be 12v off the carts step down converter. I think it should be brown to red and black to black to be switched.

OP do your LED lights just have a red and black wire? Do they have a controller box of some sort that needs to be turned on and off via app or fob?
