We have a group heading down today for a bow fishing trip tomorrow night. We were thing of bring our rod and trying surf fishing or along Hwy 1. What's our best options for catching reds or specs without a boat? What tackle should we get. TIA

I know some fish can be caught on the side of the road but I think in the surf would be your best chances for specks.
We've been catching all week. Today they were all on top water. Get some swim baits that imitate mullet, a float basket, and go to the beach.
If fishing in the morning be there before the sun comes up if possible. The evening bite was statring around 4:00-5:00 but shifted to a later evening bite yesterday being closer to sunset.

Go to elmers island. Live shrimp or plastics under a cork. You should do well if the water isn't dirty or rough.

I tried out one of the Vudu Mullet swim baits for the first time this week. I really liked the action of the bait. It is very life like. I was concerned that I would have a bunch of misses due to it only having 1 treble hook but the bait performed excellently. Casted well for such a small bait and held up really well after getting smashed up by a lot of big specs.

It was the natural color. Not sure what it is called. Kinda looks like sexy shad color.
