Friend of mine went deer hunting on Admiralty Island, which has the highest density of brown bear in the world. He put some deer urine scent on and sat under a tree. About half an hour later, a brown bear grabbed him from behind the tree dragged him about 15 yards before deciding he wasn't a deer. He was off the island and back in Juneau in about 45 minutes.

He was flying his own plane, and said he almost put it in a stall getting out of there.

Tallest tree is about 35 feet, it is going to be tough getting to 40 ft. If I could get that high, I wouldn't be able to see the ground.

We used coon urine yesterday, my 18 yr old son and 11 yr old daughter had 4 walk out in the plot. She got her first deer. She shot at an angle and the 243 bullet didn't come out so we didn't find ONE drop of blood, but I followed its trail and found it in the woods in the dark. That was the grace of God.

I am the one that keeps getting winded, so I will keep ya'll updated. Going to Missouri in 2 weeks.

A couple of my buddies swear by "smoking up". I can't do it because I can't stand the smell. They have been doing it for years. Definitely doesn't hurt anything.
