Saw the largest nest I have ever seen in the top of a tree just west of the old gm guide plant off of Millhaven...wondering if anyone else could verify its an eagles nest?

That area used to be what I called God's Country.

Loved the 5 years I spent in WM. People that dislike that area have never spent any amount of time there.

Is it near a waterbody? If not, not eagle or osprey

Biggest I’ve seen over there is in Boggy.

Climb up there and grab an egg and report back on what kind of nest it is

It's near Russell Sage.

I haven't seen in...north or south side of millhaven?

north, going towards Monroe, maybe quarter mile past the guide plant.

Think I should report it to LDWF?

Is it on the same side of the road as the plant or on the other side of the road? May be able to get a drone out there and check it out if I can find it

Yeah report it. Eagles rarely make nests that aren't very close to permanent water.
A red-tailed hawk makes a pretty large nest also and there are lots on that area

The eagles have exploded in that area. We had a pair on the levee across from us...they looked huge 200 yards away.
From 1-20 through Richland down to Dave’s Bayou I have seen numerous eagles the last few years.

Other side. There are two driveways to some sort of electrical box that you can park in almost directly across the road from the nest. The electrical box is just outside the back fence of the guide plants property.

Yeah there are several eagles in that area. One pair hangs out on that reservoir on hwy 15 near Richland plantation
They need permanent water very close by Nest isn't always over water but it's very close to some

if u need any help let me know (on here), I'm off for 4 days

I went by again and looked at it thru binocs. its about 3.5 to 4 foot wide and 1-1.5 feet deep. Sticks are about thumb size. Probably about 70 feet up a 80 foot tree. Just dont know if anything else builds that big a nest... but I'm a botanist, not a birder.
