….does the mill in Liberty cut for the public ?
No. And they only cut pine.
There's a guy in Brookhaven named Craig Foreman who has a Woodmizer. He might be able to cut those oak logs for you. I think he charges about 40c a board foot. 601-384-6727
Also, there's a guy right on the side of the 24 highway in Liberty. I think he's just west of town. He's got a Woodmizer set up on the side of the road there. Ive never talked to him though so I have no idea what he does.

I started out trying to get a lumber pile going to supply my old man hobby of woodworking. I went to Missouri and bought a shop full of Grizzly tools. I assembled a variety of logs and had Craig them. I would always have them rough cut to 5/4. I helped a couple of guys cut and stack lumber and it is very exciting to see what nature has hidden under the bark kinda like Christmas morning over and over. Very addicting. We have a wide variety of wood and we all just share wood and tools and do different types of woodwork. The key is not cutting but drying. I made a kiln out of an old cargo trailer that I have insulated. I can dry a stack of 14 ft lumber 5ft wide and 6 ft high stickered. No Colors helped me get going and I hope to make a piece of furniture from some of the wood that I got. The is just an ongoing experience and I will update you if you would like. You can contact me directly if you want. And by the way stacking and restacking wood is work

To the yield. Craig is very good at what he does and is very honest. I have had him over twice and will have him over in a few months for another cutting. I am on the hunt for pecan(my wife wants pecan flooring) and big cedar and poplar. I always have to say yes to walnut and cherry so I may have a smorgasbord for Craig again. 100% Craig is worth it.
