Anyone has any luck or advise in planting millet in a duck pond

We always top sow ours when the ground is nice and wet, usually in the fall and typically comes up well before the one fills back up. Either by hand or with a spreader on a bike.

I like to wait until later in the year to plant mine. Just have to have rain if you cant provide water
We drill it in
It is not near as effective for ducks as rice. Personally, I like something with a good tall stalk that the slugs and snails will get in. Our ducks arent pounding rice seed, they want the invertebrates

You fertilize your natural grasses and spray for broadleaf?

If we're talking duck ponds, then no I don't spray for broadleafs. Because smart weed and some other weeds make great duck food. I just scatter different millets, like barnyard grass or Jap or browntop. Then fertilize and let them go. Fertilizer is important to make a strong stalk so that they stay upright longer and don't collapse as easily. And for making more grain.

I have to spray to keep the coffeeweed from choking everything out.
It's either that or cut it all down and fertilize hoping the grasses get up above the coffee weed on second round of growth
