I figured this would be the best board to go to for this. What’s an average/good price for a metal/steel building with the foundation, assembly, etc in Louisiana?

TIA

Double the price of the building for assembly. 12k for every 2500 square feet of slab with rebar and 4inches.

I was looking at a 40x60 red iron with 14 ft side walls and it was coming in around $50k with cement and assembly...

You should be able to get the shell of the structure for $25 to $30/ SF. A lot of variables here, but I think that is a safe budget on a 2,000 to 3,000 sf dwelling. I’m considering the building pad being ready to build in this budget.

Think all 3 replies above are correct in their own way from the ball park figures I received.

I’m actually working with Reed’s Metals right now on a couple of quotes for the same thing to put up as a camp. The plans I’m looking are for just 1500-1800sq ft with optional 700sq ft garages added on. I can keep you posted on the prices.

a guy i work with is building a metal building and turning it into a house. we actually work for a metal building supplier. i detailed it for him, and he got a quote for around $26,000. he took that to a foundation guy and it was said that he'd have just as much in the foundation as he got in the building. i think the square footage for the foundation was around 5,000 (1600 of it was the livable portion). he's making a glorified garage and porch area.

i'd be careful about mortages though. some places don't finance them. you'll have to find someone that finances "barndominiums". You could build them out of pole barns and metal buildings.

Anyone on here live in a “barndominium”? Been exploring this for quite some time and really think this may be the route my wife and I go for our next home. What’s the typical price per sq finished on around a 2000-2500 ft finished out metal building? Is it really more economical than traditional construction, and why is it so popular in Texas but almost non existent here in Louisiana?

We are considering the same. Seems very cost effective and we both like the look.
