Could be pump or housing gasket, bad gasket or wrong gasket placement will allow it to suck air. Thermostat, take the hoses off and you’ll see when each side opens up. It won’t pee until at least one is open. Poppet valve may be stuck and dumping at low RPMS lowering water pressure. Plugged up jackets. Hard to diagnose without a pressure gauge, should be a pound or 2 at idle and walk up to at least 12 wot.

I’ve been around the block a time or two and don’t let jacklegs work on my boat, lol. To add the poppet could also be stuck closed and not allow bypass and free flow, the thermostats don’t flow enough at high RPMs. The poppets got to work right.

If it’s the smaller diameter impeller, I’ve seen grooved housings or wear plates cause overheat issues if only the impeller was replaced. Check your poppet valve and thermostats for debris. There’s a lot floating in the water this time of year that you won’t even realize your engine sucks up. Once you have the thermostats out, crank the engine on the hose and see if water comes pouring out. If all else fails, give our office a call on Monday and schedule an appointment.
Here is a 2.5L water flow diagram to aid in your diagnostics.

We have 2 or 3 on order with one spoken for. Hoping they arrive in the next week or two. We do have a 200 V6 in stock. 20” model with mechanical controls. It’s on our Instagram and Facebook page.

You’re welcome. If we have an opening early this week coming up, we should be able to get you out by the weekend.

Thanks. Monday mornings can get a little hectic, so please leave a message if Kelly can’t get to the phone right away. She’ll be in by 9.
