I think they will get 2 practice days. So they should be able to find a little better quality.

Do you think they will be motivated to find quality fish though? Or will they be better finding large numbers of fish? I think this could go either way depending on the body of water they are fishing. I really hope the prevailing strategy isn't to just slay small fish, but I'm fearful that numbers will almost always win out with this format.

they're going to have to have a circuit set up to feed the MLF with pros with name recognition

I disagree with this...they are gonna have something set up as a feeder system but the MLF shows create plenty of name recognition for these guys. I don't think guys like James Watson, Fletcher Shryock, or even Keith Poche had near the name recognition that they have now before they started fishing MLF

Sure they'll get recognized once they're in MLF but that was part of Cherry's point, they don't have any predetermined way to qualify for MLF or the BPT. As it sits, the way to qualify is to kiss Boyd Duckett's arse.

So the problem is two fold until they address it with a legit farm system, they're reliant on BASS and FLW to "make" talent and there will be lingering suspicions that they aren't inviting on talent alone.

Ike and the guys all agreed the end game is to eventually acquire either BASS or FLW so they have the farm system. How that fits with the MLF format is the hurdle they'll have to overcome.

Its hard to comment on that until MLF announces what they are gonna do...I think they'll ultimately create something of their own design outside of BASS and FLW

I honestly believe that within 5 years MLF will own BASS. That way they can continue the tradition of the Classic, and have their feeder system and all that.

Boyd did say on Bass Talk Live two weeks ago that they will have a qualifying process in place within three years, because that's how long of a contract the 80 guys that are starting with them signed. So they will need to replace some people after that, and I'm sure some of the older guys will be looking to retire.

That’s gonna be interesting to see how they handle it. I guess the stuff Boyd was saying about cutting 10 guys a year starts in year three?

Yeah that's what he said. They all have a three year contract to start it. After that they will start replacing 10 a year.

Did anyone read this gem from the NY Times?

NY Times article

quote:

The boats were lined up next to the shore. Each vessel was decorated with the logos of the angler’s top sponsors, giving them a similar look to the stock cars of Nascar. An M.C. announced each angler as he (they were all men, and nearly all white) launched into the river.

If they were paying attention, 2 of the 10 tour stops this year were won by black guys. An entire Bassmaster magazine this year was devoted to the story. If they'd take the time to get to know these anglers, they’d quickly realize that this is the least racist and most accepting group of people they will ever meet. All they see is that it is predominantly white males, and somehow, in their minds, that’s a bad thing. They also have a very stereotypical viewpoint of the type of people that would involve themselves in something like professional bass fishing.

They need to keep that bullshite out of fishing. But this is the NY Times we’re talking about. They can’t help themselves. THEY are the ones that are race obsessed. So they project.

well it don't take much to fish the "elite series". Just win an open and have a little cash on hand for entry fees.

fantasy fishing will be tough. lol

anyone have the list of BPT anglers with info if they came from bass or FLW.
