Tigerdad, curious to know if you have ever read the 1976 Harry Crews book 'A Feast of Snakes?'
It's about a fictional rattlesnake rodeo in Mystic, Georgia. The book theme is rattlesnakes, with a bunch of drinking, dog fighting, and fornicating thrown in. The author, Harry Crews (deceased) was a college professor in Gainesville. I found him from an old People magazine story where he was drying out at Rod Elrod's catfish pond in Winnsboro. He had some crazy, humorous, and macabre characters in his books. I wonder if they really call portajohns 'Johnny on the spots' in rural Georgia?
