Yeah, the bridge sucks, but if you usually can see around it if you look before you get to it because the road curves on the other side. I like the parking lot because it's so big and you have plenty of room. I just hate when the current is kicking and it's a pain to get the boat lined up on the trailer.

Do you not think the $5 at the marina launch is worth it all day long?

I've actually never launched there, so I guess I wasn't qualified to say no where in between was better. I've launched everywhere else though, just always thought you had to be a member to launch there.

the "members" kind of already have their own water slip or covered space where they launch for you.

Launch at Del Ray, nicest launch in the area.

Others-
-Mouth of the river on lake road (not bad at all, plenty of parking)
-Right next to the Madisonville bridge (not the greatest and tends to get crowded)
-Near St Pauls off Jahnke(sp?) in Covington (not bad but a decent boat haul from Madisonville)

Just went to the boat launch at the end of Lake Rd. in Madisonville 2 weeks ago. It is the best free one around and most everyone is courteous.
Police have started writing tickets like crazy lately. You need a launch permit (yearly permit) for $10 I believe at the gas station. Supposedly it has been that way since the 90s - I didn't know you had to pay until recently.

Yeah, I, or the people I have been with haven't ever paid for it. Been going out there probably 20 years and haven't had a problem.

I still think it is the best launch in the area. The Jahncke has always been really shallow(I last went a couple of years ago), and the Marina Del Ray one was steep if I remember correctly. I think we have helped pull trucks up the ramp a few times.

They do have occasional Youtube candidates at Lake Rd., but the launches are wide enough to get 4 trailers in there. I saw a boat with twin 300's sink probably 20yds from the launch one time. We tried to get down there because the dude didn't want the boat anymore, and it was the worst burn I have ever received from gasonline
