Hey guys,
I developed sciatica at the start pf this year's deer hunting season. Thankfully, it's better now and no longer troubles me. But when it was bothering me, I came to the realization I now prefer pull on hunting boots instead of lace up boots. I wore my Red Wing uninsulated Wellingtons most of the season, but they weren't warm enough on the colder days. Consequestly, I'm looking for insulated (200-400 grams of Thinsulate) leather pull on boot in a roper/Wellington style. I prefer a round, non-steel toe, but I'll consider a square toe that's steel. I had a pair of Rocky boots many years ago and found out the hard way that most of them can't be resoled, but these might work. This is beginning to feel like the search for the Holy Grail as I haven't found much available. One of the few I've found is this pair of Lariat Warthog boots. Does anyone have any ideas or personal experience to share? TIA.

Uninsulated boots + boot blankets is my universal recommendation now. You can hike uninsulated, which is great, and wrap your boots in like 2500 grams of insulation when you stop. Best of both worlds.

Whatever boots you buy get a pair of these to pull the boots on. You’ll be glad you did.

You make a good point. In fact, that's what I did w/ the recent spell of cold weather-I wore boot blankets over my uninsulated leather boots to see how it'd be. It kept my feet fairly warm, but I want to simplify what I pack in to the stand. I'll keep the boot blankets around for the grandkids and my wife to wear.

I've never looked for pull on boots this style. Maybe research if there's some pull on logging boots made for up north? The lace up loggers often have insulated offerings

Danner

I wore these when I worked in Wyoming... feet stayed warm.

Take a look at Schnees in Bozeman, MT. They have several pull on styles

I have a pair of Danner also.

Mine are none insulated but they still do well.

I imagine the insulated are great. Really good for walking in

Thanks for the pic of the model #. That's exactly what I'm looking forward. Unfortunately, it looks like that model's been discontinued.

I wear Georgia Boot pull on boots, they are very comfortable. I pheasant hunted four days straight in SD last year and my feet were never cold.

Also I have sciatica and have gotten great relief via hip stretches and yoga.

Those Georgia Boots look good, but unfortunately none of their current models are insulated.

I agree w/ the benefit of stretches for sciatica.
