I'm in Dutchtown just for reference. Looking to get one of these guys as a companion for the SO and I. Ideally female. You guys have any suggestions? I tried googling this and it was surprisingly difficult to find anything.

I got mine from a breeder in Denham Springs/walker area. The poster Dylan lined me up with them.

Not sure. I can go through some old emails and look for the phone number. You can call and see if they still breed. I got my pup 1 1/2 years ago.

JT Strong kennels. He is in Delhi, LA (northeast corner). I have one from him and have bred her twice. They are excellent dogs. I know that's quite a drive for you. But the last litter I had was in fall of '16. I have a friend in new roads that bought a puppy and it has already tracked a deer.

Hey there's a Breeder in denham, Terry Monaghan. Her dogs are working dogs and a lot are off field trial hog dogs. They aren't the cheapest though. I have a female almost 2 I'd get rid of. Also my cousin's jip just had a litter 3 days ago and I have a female due in about a day or 2.

I have a young pup off of Monaghan and he has already trailed a deer at 3 months old. My female that is expecting is off the Monaghan blood line.

Are they ideal family dogs? I'd like to get a pup and raise it instead of getting an older one initially

They make great family dogs. My cousin has 2 small boys who play with his and they love their "Dixie Dog"

My grandfather raised them. Always called them catahoula curs. Maybe try adding cur and see if that drums up anymore hits.
