Brass or plastic cleaning rod with a thandle at the end put down the barrel with the thandle turned sideways catching racks should work.

Okay- I spent a little more than I would like on this liberty, but I am very happy with my purchase. I went ahead and added electrical plugins, drilled it into concrete with four hockey pucks as separation and added a dehumidifier as well-looking forward to securing the collection tomorrow morning.

Good idear... I have a few cases of 223 I can lay down there.

Thanks man- The pucks create separation from the concrete, preventing Moisture and rust. I love it so far- just need to customize shelving and fill it up!

Anyone have experience with this one? It's rechargeable by tossing it in the oven

Posted on 5/27/17 at 9:12 pm to Uncle JackD
I use the Eva-dry, don't like the oven aspect of the other. Need to power something up soon.
BTW, they seem to work. Plug in and dry them out.

If you are using it to store documents, hard drives, disc, or pictures and such I would recommend you store your ammo elsewhere, having a few hundred/thousand rounds cook off in there will destroy everything inside in the event of a fire. This goes double for aerosol cans and solvents.

According to Vincent DiMaio’s book Gunshot Wounds, .22 LR cartridges will detonate (“cook off”) repeatably at only 275 °F. .38 Special rounds make it until 290 °F, and 12 Gauge shells cook off at around 390 °F. Interestingly in these cook off experiments, the primers did not go off — it was the powder.

These work great...you ought to see how much water/humidity they catch...we use them in our camper when not in use...
never put em in a gun safe before though(my dehumidifier is electric), so try at your own risk.
$1.00 @ dollar tree

Did a bunch of reading since I posted this...and a few gun forums are recommending them and they are being sold on Ebay and other sites with the description of being used for gun safes...
again, do your research/due diligence and use at your own risk

Really not much difference in a liberty, cannon,
I would have to disagree with this. I spent a month debating which safe to get with the last two weeks being solely between the Liberty and the Cannon. In the end I went with the Liberty because it was obvious that it was a much more solid product. In both workmanship and aesthetics it was like comparing a Ford and a BMW. In the end the thing that pushed me towards the Liberty (other than my Wife) was after hours of research, they seemed to be the only one with a legit fire rating.
That said, I agree with the other posters that a Cannon is going to keep 99% of burglars out. If that is your main objective other than keeping your kids out , go for the Cannon. My BIL & Sister have a beautiful high gloss Cannon in their dining room that has lasted for years.

If you can afford it, save a few dollars and buy the wide Body 64 gun safe . It's marked down to $899 several times per year, normally $999.
The safe in your link (Cannon TS5934) is a decent safe if you own 12-15 long guns. Chances are you will outgrow it once you start buying rifles and shotguns for your wife and children.
IMO, it's much cheaper and convenient to buy 1 large safe once, then to buy 2 medium size safes over time
Decent safes. I own 2, bought about 5 years apart for $799 on sale from Tractor Supply.
