I’ve hunted public land for years and get at least 1 good buck a year. I have never got s doe. I’ve seen probably around 50 the last 3 years maybe 10 of those are does. If you now what you are looking for there are real quality deer to be taken on public land.

Yep. You just have to be dedicated to go get them. Most of us are fat and lazy

Eh. Even if that's an "on average" stat, that is going to be tough anywhere within 30 minutes of BR. Maybe see a buck every 3-5 hunts?

If you're willing to increase your budget 10 fold you might be able to find a small lease within an hour of BR that offers a once a season shot at a good buck.

I appreciate all the help. Redneck found me a nice lease... a little more than I wanted to play ($700) but it’s perfect.

Good luck. Hope it works out for you. I don’t know of any place like that around my area. In that price range anyway. Now if your price range was 250k-500k and another 5k-10k a year, I coulda hooked you up baw.
