Whats the best payment method for everyone involved? Cashier's check? Wire transfer?

it isn’t complicated at all I have no idea where all this title nonsense is coming from
trailers have titles and tags
boats have an MSO which is just for the owner to keep to establish the Hull ID number for registration
outboards just have a SN which is recorded at the sale in case it’s ever stolen
you do one bill of sale for the boat and motor and one for the trailer. You go to an auto title place, notarize a bill of sale, sign over the trailer title and walk away with your money. The buyer then registers the trailer in his name, pays the sales tax and gets a new tag then registers the boat online at LDWLF

Outboards also have a MSO. I think MSOs are kind of a new thing. I’ve only started to hear of them in the last few years. I think you only need it if the motor doesn’t have a title.
The more we talk, the more I’m sure that there’s a thousand different situations. If it has a title, you want that title.

Legally, yes you only need the trailer title and boat registration. Legally.
But for resale purposes and to be on the safe side get a title and bill of sale for everything. They didn't start titling motors until 200 or so.
I just spent 6 months getting the title for my motor. Buyer needed it cause his intentions were to trade it in in the future.
Granted if it's a 20yr old Jon boat or mudboat yea no problem. But if you have a 2010+ nice bay or bassboat it makes no sense not to have them.
