Learned something new about Stihl engine (cranking issue)

My Stihl leaf blower would pop off but not run. I checked plug, checked a lot of things, actually. Got fed up and brought to my Local dealer.
He pulled a 5/8 socket out and removed a small plug that was on the muffler. It looks like a big grease fitting actually.
Dirt daubber had done what they do, but it creates back pressure and thing wouldn’t run.
Clean the screen- first pull- it runs.
Never knew this. Something to remember.

Well known issue with a lot of 2-stroke engines, particularly when ran too much at part throttle, those screens get clogged with carbon. I took those screens completely out of my Stihl trimmers and Echo blower.

I bought a battery powered chainsaw.

I had the same issue with an Echo 225 weed eater, removed the spark arrestor screen and it fired right up and ran, cleaned screen and put it back on, it started cutting out again within an hour run time, so I removed the screen and threw it away and the weed eater starts and runs like new every time, it’s now about 8 years old.

Just did that to mine a few weeks ago as well. Instead of cleaning thet little screen I just simply cut it off. Works like a charm.
