Supposedly that's the best thing to fish for in the tangipahoa River, but I don't know where to begin. What tips you baws got for me?

Find someone who knows and go with them. Seems like every body of water has its own way of doing things. Starting now though, I'd hit every piece of wood close to the bank with shiners or jigs. Never been there, but a jigging pole would probably be really effective. Try both tight line and under cork anywhere from 1 to 2 feet depending on water depth near the wood and your results.

Haven't fished there in a few years, but never had much luck fishing them growing up there as a kid. Hope you tear em up, so I have an excuse to start going back down there!

I need to come see the camp, too.

I was about to post this same topic. I havent fished sac a lait in 15 years probably. Was just gona launch the kayak in larto and fish around the next few weeks. Just bought a few jigs while i was buying my kayak today. All I remember about fishing it was using a light pole and fishing under a cork.

They're finicky little pricks that will drive you insane and demoralize you until you quit fishing for them and start chasing fish that actually bite.

frick sacalait.

It's been terrible for 3 years or so.

I think it's really high still. Probably best to get your waders and do the behind the buckbrush thing.

I wouldn't think you would want to fish tangi then. They do have sacalait there and in few spots they can be thick but they are inconsistent. So THEY say, jigging on long canal can be productive.
