Maybe I missed that boat, but is the LDWF not doing as many as year past? I just found this article for White Lake '16/'17.

LINK

quote:

(LDWF) will begin accepting applications Thursday (May 26) through June 20 for waterfowl group hunts for up to 12 hunters per group at White Lake

quote:

The cost of the 2016-17 waterfowl season hunts will be $30,000 for each group

quote:

The fee covers up to 12 hunters and includes the following: transportation to and from the airport (Jennings or Lake Charles or Lafayette), all food and beverages, two-night stay at the White Lake Lodge, professional hunting and fishing guides, hunting and fishing licenses, steel shot shotgun shells for waterfowl hunts and steel shot for skeet range, the use of shotguns and fishing gear, bird and fish cleaning and packaging.

Maybe the one day lotto hunts weren't cutting the cheese over there on the Island? Too much work for the agents? Kind of steep for $1250 per person, per hunt.

I used to work there on the Whooping Crane project. It's not worth 30k by any means. Don't get me wrong, everything about the trip is pretty top notch, but they're pulling in regulars for that price tag. We're talking groups of major donors and such.

I remember coming into the office there one day and one of my coworkers was like we need to go and get the alcohol out of the dumpster! I said what? They were like yeah, they throw away everything and replace it like every week or two. Literally everything.
