Too early for W and F, wait until April for better results.Your lawn is only growing during daylight hours right now,so W and F is not a good idea right now.Best thing to do is just mow it for now, the good grass will catch up in a couple months.

April will likely be to late for the weed part. I would hit it first week of March. Best to separate the weed and feed. Weed in last week of February. Feed end of March.

Only reason i said April is beacuse of the mild winter this year.If you W and F any earlier that April May, you will probably have to do it again.
Killing the weeds now before the grass gets rooted good will only allow more weeds to grow.I do this for a living and its been that way for me for many years, but please don't take my word for it,call a few horticulturist's in the Baton Rouge area, they can answer all questions.

Without question it is best to separate the fertilizer and herbicide. Personally I think people are wasting their money with they apply a weed and feed.

I agree with this, but for most people this will be all that they will do, so it's better than nothing in most cases.

If you apply a pre-emerg herbicide in April/May in Baron Rouge you are wasting your money. It needs to be out by the first week of March. Maybe earlier this year.

Personally I think the first week of March is generally too early. I realize that it has been an unseasonably warm winter, but I have already applied a herbicide. Years past I apply it early-mid Feb.

You can go to any garden center and find a herbicide that contains 2, 4-D. As long as it has that ingredient you will be fine. Read the label and don't over apply.

for those wanting to learn more about their lawns, I recommend this book. It has a lot of great info, everything from fertilizing to how to cut designs in your grass

Is this a good time to apply those products?

I'm holding off until March. A freeze will damage new growth.
