Lake Verret

Planning on fishing Lake Verret tomorrow. We will be in a bay boat, and we were thinking about fishing the tree edges on the south side of the lake for catfish using worms. Are there a lot of stumps that we should be aware of? Any other pointers?

May be a little early but we usually do well with worms under cork and hit the trees. Just troll. Sometimes they are far out sometimes closer in. Easy pickings if they biting.

Is Attakapas Landing open? And is there a bait shop open near by?

There is a Charlie one stop gas station on hwy before turning onto 401 that you can get worms. I think they have crickets but don’t remember

The lake is safe to run till you get close to the trees then just use trolling motor to bounce from tree to tree . Walmart usually has worms in a small cooler in the outdoors section.

We always launch at shell beach rd
Free and old but it works. West side of the lake.

Fished there 2 weeks ago. Water was high, no action. Hope you do better!

Took the wife yesterday, she loves cat fishing the trees in the lake. No bueno on the catfish, still a few weeks early I think. Managed to find a stretch of canal with a few bream and and a couple pods of chinquapin. Ended up with 24 keepers and one lonely cat

Thanks for the update. We do the same love to fish the trees on the lake for cats. Better luck next time. I am going to try to make it out this weekend if I can will update you if I go.
Weather does not appear it will cooperate.

We started out late Saturday morning but where able to catch 10 catfish or so in the trees along the west side of the lake. Attakpas launch was rough as hell when the wind picked up in the afternoon. Not to mention no where to park. Will definitely be checking out new launches when we go back. Catfish were delicious though.

That or Bayside was open last week when I went down to get my boat from the camp.

Caught 20 yesterday, all spawners and bigger than I’d like. Deep in the trees, shallow, shallow. Be a little longer before the trees fill up with the 10 inchers. Caught some of the biggest bream I’ve seen in Verret in years
