@TigrrrDad, I may have asked you this before (can't remember!), but do you think there is any population of Eastern Diamondbacks left in SE Louisiana? Also, any possible Western Diamondbacks in western Louisiana near the Texas border?

I don’t think there are any Easterns in La. (can’t rule out a straggler, but no population of them) - Westerns tend to be a lot more numerous in central, south, and west Texas, so I don’t think there would be any in La. either.

I think it’s one of the several strip clubs in Leesville

Holy Moly this place is thick thick! Can hardly get to the creeks and barely any oak trees.

Found couple small scrapes and rubs but nothing to write home about. Also the deer trails are like spider webs, every 20’ there’s a different trail.

Guess I picked the right pine tree cause around 8:30 this morning I dropped a spike.

Thanks bud!

Man that’s a weird place (for me anyway). Was expecting to be able to get to bottoms easier and walk them finding crossings but areas I checked out were crazy thick! Also not a lot of oaks where I was but the ones I found had acorns in them.

I hunted a burned area that was green where I jumped 4 deer Fri evening scouting. Seen a single deer at daylight but couldn’t tell what it was and then it vanished. At 8:30 the spike came out 30yd infront of me and I dropped him.

He’s my 1st public land Louisiana deer on my 1st Louisiana public land hunt. Have killed numerous in MS.

Scout scout scout. I musta walked 10 miles in total scouting till I found what I thought was the best sign in a short period of time.

If you going to an area not really pressured yet the deer won’t be in the thickest areas or too far off road. Killed him roughly 200yds off road.

They like those burned areas. Almost all the bottoms on the Vernon got wrecked by Laura and Delta Hard to walk in there. Most of the oaks took a hit

Some areas looked like giant pine savanna with nothing but pine and broom straw grass. I figured they’d be more briars but surprisingly they didn’t.

And thankfully I saw zero snakes or any crazy insects that bite or sting!!!! haha
