I wear them in warm months. Protects from snakes and thorns which seem to grow on everything around here. I got popped on the outside of right foot by a youg cotton mouth this spring. Boots saved me lots of pain. Snake died from 12 gauge

I wore snake proof chaps when I used to paint timberlines for Deltic. Got struck twice. They worked.
