Posted something similar on OT , but doing some cleaning lately and have a .50 cal muzzleloader and I personally have 2 .444’s and will never use it.
Would anybody here buy one for example?
Who would buy this thing?
(Not trying to sell here) asking as in where do I try to sell it?

I'm confused by the title.

Is it breach loading or muzzle loading?

I assume he means a breach-loading black powder rifle. Muzzleloader is a commonly used term for all black powder, even if it technically only refers to some of them.

The first year Louisiana allowed cartridges for "primitive" season I took two muzzleloaders to Cabelas. Figuring they were a chain store I thought they might give me 50-100 bucks each and send them to a store somewhere that has a true black powder season.

Nope. Couldn't even get a nickel for them.

I don't really have an answer for your original question. Just wanted to tell that story

Plenty of states still have true black powder only seasons, just may have to go through one of the online auction sites and not expect too much. In LA and MS they are scrap metal now.

It's probably not worth it to sell them at all, unless;

A. You are a crackhead and every single dollar counts towards your fix

B. There s absolutely positively not enough space to store it anywhere.

You just as soon hold on to it and maybe you'll make a hunt out of state or Louisiana changes the law back one day.

Man I wouldnt know where to sell it. Maybe like a poster said there are some states that dont allow center fire rifles but require true pour-powder/pellet-down-the-barrel type blackpowder rifles and put on sales site there? Gunbroker?

Pow pow gave me his .50 cal. I killed a doe with it. Shot at it 4 times

PITA but nostalgic to shoot. Oh, and real fun when you unload one that wont fire.

Alabama and Tennessee are still black powder only for primitive weapon seasons. I could be wrong, but I think you can direct ship to a buyer without an FFL.

Regarding Alabama, I think you’re right about only using traditional muzzleloading gear, but I think the season is only like two or three days, so most baws don’t even fool with them

I attended the Tulsa gun show last weekend. It is the largest gun show in the world according to them. I brought a Marlin government 1895 and a 50 cal TC Black Diamond with a Swift 3x9 scope on it. I sold the Marlin at my asking price quickly. I planned on using the TC as trading material. Not one dealer would consider it. After carrying that thing all day, an individual asked about it in the late afternoon. I happily sold it for $100. I saw several Muzzle Loaders for sale for as low as $49. Good luck.

Arkansas is still true muzzle loader, but it's only a week and no one in our club bothers with it...
I have a muzzle loader that I never use anymore, and know it isn't worth much now. Im glad I got to shoot a deer with it once; I'll just keep it.
