BPS and Cabelas are the Yetis and Big Green Eggs of outdoor stores. With that I am headed out to the field for the day

I love their time share info. Am going sometime in August to Branson for one third of what I would have paid had I not listened to them. I like Bass Pro and their restaurant has some great food.

No, not true

If you look online you can get almost the exact same deal at Big Cedar from a handful of other websites, this is if you are staying at the lakeside cabins

Those places are worthless, living in New Orleans I scratch my head when someone tells me they are heading to Baton Rouge just to go to either one of those places. If they don't have what I need at Academy I go to Puglias......if they don't have it at Puglias...I don't need it(or I just buy it online).

I think Academy is the walmart of outdoor stores, and I think most of the others are overpriced.

For hunting gear, particularly archery, Academy is pathetic.

Bass Pro is weird with their pricing. Ours has a Springfield XDS9 for $640 which is more than $100 than I paid for mine, but I've seen other guns that seem underpriced. Most of their ammo/black powder/reloading supplies are the cheapest in town. For example, they sell Buckhorn 209 powder for $32 while everyone else around here that carries it charges right at $40.

Pretty much every store around here charges MSRP for hunting apparel.

BPS isn't bad for lures. You can pretty much get any bait you need there with a few exceptions. Also BPS makes one of the best jerk baits I've ever used but I've only been able to find 2.

Likely first choice unless there is a hazmat fee (powder, primers)

If I go to Academy with a list of 10 things, they'll only have 5 of them so I end up having to go to BP anyway. I'm not talking about real technique specific things either, I'm talking about things like black neon baby brush hogs, black 1/4 oz. strike king tungsten weights, 15 and 20 lb. Seaguar flouro. These were all things I needed to restock my boat with that they didn't gave last week. Happens everyone I go.
