I've been looking for a new ultra-light and the TEC and TEC Custom look pretty good.

No. To me, BFS is the answer to a question no one asked. Other than small crank baits, I would much prefer to use spinning tackle. This is for crappie mind you. For bass, my answer could be completely different. I like throwing Rapala SR-5s so much that I did get a Pixie and a very light casting rod for them. It's worked out well so far.

I might have a 6' st.croix panfish ul for sale soon. Seems a little too whippy for my liking. Going to take it out a few more times just to see if I like it enough to keep it.

I have been really unimpressed with their panfish lineup. Even the ones labeled extra fast feel like a noodle. When I am throwing jigs in Spring and Fall, I really want true extra fast.

Man! Same. I have a Falcon Bucoo 7'0 ML, and an old coastal split grip- i think its a 7 or 7'6 ML and those are my favorite trout rods. 15lb braid, and 2500 Shimano stradic, absolutely amazing to throw light jig heads with a DSL or Gulp swimming mullets.

That's how I'm feeling with it. I found my old falcon ul rod right after buying the st. Croix. It's a much better experience.

They seem to be priced well on amazon around $50-$60 down from around $100ish

I bought one a few months ago when they were similarly priced, I'll be pairing it with a ultegra 2500 to surf fish next year.

If you are just using it for cork/carolina rig fishing, I would go kast king. While Amazon sold/Chinese made its different level of equipment, especially their higher end stuff.

I use their Kapstan Elite 3000 size reel ($120) on an Old 18 Kinetic rod, ($100) I received as a gift.

I dont like two piece rods, except for live bait under a cork and have a few Kast King Crixus models rods with the same Kapstan for that. Under $50 and comes with an extra tip. I laughed when I first bought one on a whim off Amazon, but I the things come in handy around kids. And my clumsy arse. I have never fished anything as smooth and durable for the money than that Kapstan up against the $250 Stradic. They are nearly identical.

I even shelved Shimano bait casters for the Kast King $50 Spartacus II. Again bought it on a whim thinking I would never not fish a Shimano and was shocked how smooth it is. They dont clean up as well as a Curado MGL but they weigh 2 ounces less (throw a topwater all morning and it makes a huge difference) and at $50 slightly higher than a professional cleaning. I have the Shimano on the table and now go thru 4-5 Kast King reels a year for a dozen or so trips each while rinsing them off and then throw them in a box for the kids after rotating them out.
