On the opposite side of the point I have my stringer line attached through a small hole. This makes the gig your stringer tip.
Great idea. I've certainly lost a few on the transfer from gig to stringer.

Easy to get your fingers cut also during that transfer.
The best part is that it is a one man operation using a light that you can just let hang at your side. Better than the broomstick/nail type gig with a Coleman Lantern.

Ha! I grew up gigging flounders with this exact set up. One guy holds the lantern and the other has the gig.
The Coleman was always a pain in the arse, especially replacing the string ties.

Nc won’t let you keep them. We have to toss them back.

The 2022 recreational flounder season will open at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 1 and close at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 30 in internal and ocean waters of North Carolina. The minimum size limit will remain at 15 inches total length, and the creel limit will be 1 fish per person per day during the open recreational season.
That sucks.
