2nd Saturday in a row I see one (3 this time) as I'm climbing. I got the gun as quickly as I could, but they were scootin by then. Didn't see anything after that, just chilly. Back at the arse crack tomorrow in 23 degree temps.

At the camp between Houston and Dallas, just my youngest and me. Duck hunted this morning. Shot 15, mixed bag of wood ducks, mallards, grey ducks, and 1 wigeon. Also shot a lone redhead, which was very odd.

Sat in the deer stand this afternoon. Killed a lone boar hog. Wanted my son the shoot it, but it just didn't work out. He is 8 and pigs never stay still, so it was difficult. Best part, he was wearing a LSU hoodie this afternoon. Of course, he got a pick of him and the pig in his LSU gear.

Webster Parish

Saw nine. Missed a doe at over 300 because I went for the neck. I knew if I missed, she'd be untouched, because the alternative was decapitation. The last time I missed a shot on a whitetail was a little west of Del Rio doing this neck shot crap thirty years ago.

But I didn't feel like blood trailing a deer in that spot since she was close to two different land owners.

I stand by it. Might have to bust out one of the long range rifles I've got to redeem myself. Or just put a tree stand up there since it's got a lot of traffic.

Guys in my lease shot some too. But mostly BW teal, few greys and wigeon and 1 lone woodie. They said greys were everywhere, but wouldn't commit. Prick teasing bastards.
