I don't even like talking about it bc it will never get done, it's been going on for over 10 years, too much politics

If they did the proposed diversion into maurepas swamp along with another being talked about to lake des allemands, to go with the davis pond and caernarvon projects, the area would be THE absolute mecca for freshwater fishing.

That's the truth

ETA I hate getting my hopes up about it because it seems like it'll never happen

Good luck, but be careful back there. It's easy to get lost or hurt. I highly recommend having a buddy go with you. If you kill a deer, you will need all the help you can get to get it out.

Wear PLENTY of orange and make sure you're good with maps and a compass, or bring a gps and wear it high so it doesn't go swimming when you do (you will bust your arse at least once).

There are plenty of idiots in that swamp and the best thing you can do is distance yourself from them as best you can. They are not where the deer are 9 times outta 10 anyway.

Phone and wallet should be in a ziploc bag for when you bust your arse and go swamp swimming (don't expect any cell phone service back there anyway).

Flagging ribbon is a good thing to bring in case you shoot a deer. First thing you do is put a ribbon wherever you are if you shoot. It isn't hard to loose a deer because everything looks the same, but if you mark where you are when you shoot, and then walk straight to where the deer was when you shot it (not where you last saw it). Mark that spot. THEN go about looking for it.

The main thing back there is be careful and don't get lost.
