I had a conversation with an old guy about hunting Pearl River WMA. This old guy said he started to walk out too late, got lost, and decided to stay put until light. He woke up and could see he truck.

Without a map and compass, I can't navigate that terrain for shite.

Compass is the first thing I put in my pack. GPS is nice, but I feel better knowing that I can at least guide myself places the old fashioned way.

I tried Joyce about 10 years ago and had a very rough time just scouting in broad daylight. If people do hunt back there, more power to them

There is a show on Coast to Coast about all the people that go “missing” in parks etc. staggering

Don’t listen to it until after hunting season
