I'll be in grand isle Saturday till Tuesday. I saw the guy post about catching a crap ton of sheepshead....looked awesome.

Sunday and Monday will be our main fishing days....just wondering how lucky you guys have been. Anyone with good luck off a pier?

Also saw is supposed to rain like hell on Monday....which pretty much sucks for me. Any concerns about that? Will they bite worth a damned if it's sprinkling? Full on rain and I'll just find a damn bar to wasted me.

Thanks for the help.

I'll be there Friday-Sunday
Been catching reds when the wind isn't horrible..it should be wonderful this weekend
Finding pretty water hasn't been easy, and last few times there's been no water in the marsh
Most of my fish have been coming way north of the island (25 minute runs or so)
Not sure how lucky you'll be on a pier, maybe if you have a light

Around what time do you usually fish for them? I read where the best bet is during he warmest part of the day this time of year.

Water temp usually affects trout more in my experience
Are you bringing a boat or just pier?

If no boat fish deep holes on side road early in morning

No problem catching reds.

Generally more active as the day goes on. But it's supposed to be pretty warm this weekend so temp shouldn't be an issue.

Rent yourself a kayak and go hunting.

Just fish with the tide and you'll do fine man. There's no need to complicate redfish like some other fish. They feed with the tide.

You'll do better during the off tides if you're sight fishing. It's a little easier to make them eat when you can see them, and a lot of times they'll eat just because you piss them off. If you don't have a boat, I second the kayak suggestion. If you don't get down there too often, just enjoy it. Grand Isle is a really cool place.

No boat. I looked at renting a kayak but I have a really low budget and my buddy's is even lower.

I'd really love to get a kayak for a day though.

So as far as side of the road fishing...do I just cross the bridge and find side road to fish off of?

Check out Google Earth and find some culverts that pass under the road and fish around there. There are a few down there I have had success at.

I imagine googling "grand isle bank fishing" would give you some better suggestions though.

Heard people were catching bulls on elmers.

Plus it gives you some roadside spots on the way in

I'm going to give you a secret little honey hole of mine. I'll leave it up for a little bit. Let me know when you get it. Fish here all around the road and rocks and the camp driveway. Bottom or under cork. Catch reds, trout and doormat flounder here all the time. There's a live bait place just down the road from here towards Grand Isle that is very reasonable. Sells ice as well.

good deal. I mean it's not the only place to catch along that stretch of road but for some reason the tides and water flow in this spot is always ideal.

During the summer I had a habit of leaving Lafayette around 10pm to head to the island, I'd always make it a point to stop there on my way in and fish for a bit. Probably not a great spot during the summer months but I'd always fish through a couple beers, go pass out in the truck somewhere for a couple hours then find a place to fish the next morning. It was my Friday night unwind spot.

Only spent 30 minutes there before the rains came. But caught 2 nice flounder and 3 reds.

We always did well in the summer on the west end of the island behind bridge side. There is a flat that drops off into the pass. Not sure what the camp scene is there now. Used to be two run down camps with no one there
