How far is Blue Water/ Rip?

Going fish out of GI tomorrow and I've been watching the NASA sight for any idea on how far blue water is and there aren't any good pictures for weeks back. Anyone been fishing lately out of GI or Fourchon and know approx. how far blue water is or the rip? From the broken pictures I get, it looks pretty far out. Or would anyone that has Ripcharts want to share a screenshot lol Thanks

I don't fish offshore but friends use MODIS today satellite images to see the rip. I believe it's usually about 50 miles out or so

You could use the satellite image to see the rip and then use the measure tool on Google to see how far out. Easiest way

Rip charts has blue water South and East of GI. Straight south looks green. Rip looks to be about 40 miles south of south pass.

Just depends on tides and wind. I've been in blue water at 16 miles, then sometimes it took 40 miles to see blue water.
