Hoping to bag a Michigan buck this afternoon ...

We've seen a bunch the first few days ... out of range. It's been unusually warm and very windy up here. Front moved in this morning and finally cooled it down some from the high 70s into the 30s this morning. Wind is at 6 knots, gusting to 12, but the last three days gusts have been in the 50s.
I've got a feeling that something brown is going down in the next 4 hours.
My Son is 350 yards directly across from me. It's definitely turning colder .... finally. Hoping to get some good action coming out of the swamp to my left.

Good luck. You gonna hide or just sit there in the wide arse open?

I've killed a half dozen whiteys out of this stand over the years. I'm cammo'd up and soaked in young buck piss. It's different hunting up here than it is down home. I'm ten feet up ... this platform has been here for seven years. They are used to it being here. The wind is making so much noise in the leaves ... they've got their nose low when they come out of the treelines and hit these fields. There was corn in this field ten days ago.

Looks like a nice spot, good luck!

Through the woods, small clearing just behind me ... I stood up to stretch my legs and now I'm standing here watching them. This is a good sign this early with the sun over and hour away from setting.

Brown down ... my Son just pegged a nice doe straight across from me with his Matthews. He's money in the bank with that thing. I can't shoot a compound since my rotator cuff surgery ... but he nailed her and just sent me this shot. I watched her fall at the woodline about thirty yards to his left. He must have pegged her in the golden triangle given this arrow.
My turn now. My Brothers are off to my left. We've had some big bucks showing up on the trail cams. I'm waiting for one of them to come chasing one of these does out into my zone.
At least now we know we'll be taking meat back to SC with us Monday for sure. She looked like a nice size doe from what I could tell through the glass.

You definitely know the area. Meant to put some in my ruck before heading out this morning.
We took two nice does yesterday before dusk. Back at it this morning. Beautifull morning, beautifull starry sky. Thank God for all he gives us, for allowing us to experience these kind of mornings.
28° not a lick of breeze.

Plenty of action this morning. It's just a matter of time now.

Are you a pilot by chance? Never heard of a hunter refer to wind speed in knots. ????

PPL/IR but that all pretty much ended with the heart surgery a couple of years ago. I've got a good pilot these days, my former instructor and close friend. He's up here with my Son and me in Michigan although he drove over to Ann Arbor while we're here at the Lodge.
The knots thing is by habit ... my weather app, Ventusky, is set to knots.

Small world. I've got friends not too far east of there.
Been a dream of mine to go hunt up there for years. Just too busy during football season!
Hope y'all have more success!
