What's the bite looking like? Headed there this weekend to put some slime on the deck!

gonzo03 and I went this past Saturday and boated some fish. They weren't on fire by any means, but the bite was slow and steady on the rocks. Plenty boats out, and the bull reds were hitting pretty good.

Haven't heard lately. I assume there are some nice fish still there, but many are moving to the platforms and barrier island beaches

LSUCouyon went with Bayou Charter Saturday. They had 3 boats limit on reds, his boat limited on drum as well. Few specks were caught, maybe 50 by the 3 boats, I am guessing.
I am not sure what areas they fished.

Bootlegger you prolly would have boated more fish if you wasn't with GONZO! Lol I'm going to fish the rocks early then run to Brenton island if the rocks arnt producing. Herd they been picking up a few fish out there. I'm not real familiar with anything past the rocks as far as where the well heads and rigs are.

If you are going to run to Breton, that needs to be your first stop.

the end of the rocks always seem to produce well between 6-9am then it shuts down. I Don't want to run further if it's not needed. What about the wellheads are they better to fish later on in the day?

Time to get some hours on it bootlegger! This time last year we was smoking the trout at the end of the rocks! I'm just getting a late start on going but I'll be out there every weekend for now on. I'm just not familiar with the rigs and wells out in the sound.

Any of them will work really. Make a quiet approach and anchor up current and drift back into casting distance. Fan cast around the rig with live shrimp top and bottom until you find what they like. Experiment with cork depth and carolina rig weight size until you find them. Sometime they may be on down current side. Give each rig 10 minutes. If no fish-move.

Got a wedding this Saturday out of town, or I'd be following y'all. I want to start hammering the reds in the marshes.

Well if you're going to go to Breton Islands you need to make that your goal. Don't fish the rocks while having that as your backup plan. And before you go that far, I'd strongly consider black bay or stone island.

ETA. Breton sees a lot of boats on a weekday. It'll be a mess trying to get there on a weekend, especially late.

That's the only way to do it! Then you'll know not to go that way next time
