I am thinking about going with a rubber boot. My friend swears by the Lacrosse Alphaburly. These are the ones I have been looking at, and I was just wondering what your opinions were on them.

Does anyone like Muck boots?

I am probably going to go with about 800g thinsulate and just were some artic shields for the real cold days.

I wear the Muck Wetland. It's a bit shorter than the Lacrosse, but way more comfortable for the 2 mile walk I have to do. it can tend to be a bit hot though.

Long time lacrosse user here. Bought some mucks when they first appeared. Loved them, but uppers were a bit hot. Tried the Alpha Burleys. Nice boot, but really could not find a good size. I still have them, but wear my new mucks whenever i can. If I could do it over, I'd buy 2 pairs of the tall mucks. One with some insulation, and the other as thin as they make.

What model Muck did you buy that was comparable to the AlphaBurly?

Good answer BTW... thanks.

Also, I forgot to mention, I will be using these primarily for deer season. Not sure if the wetland is a good boot for that or not. What gram thinsulate are you guys using?

I bought the one that is slightly more insulated than the wetland. Sure wish I had bought the wetland now. The ones I have are hot. With marino wool socks, you almost never need anything more than those wetlands in La.

I am hunting North Alabama... I don't know what the difference in temp is up here, but it is usually below freezing, most morning in the teens in December and Jan.

Any different down there? Or do you think the Wetland will do fine by me. I am looking at the Wetland in the BPS catalog, and they don't specify any kind of insulation on any of Muck boots. I am just worried about making a bad buy and not being happy.

If you don't have to walk over a mile to your stand, get the one with more insulation than the wetland. Mung and I have a horrible walk of over a mile through ridge/swale topography with the swales being Ms. bottomland black mud that grabs like epoxy. Woody Elite looks like what I have. Want them?

I've always worn Lacrosse and they hold up really well. I mainly use the hip boots though, and they don't have much insulation.

Only lacrosse I had were uninsulated knee boots. I have the Muck Woody Elite and my dad and brothers have the woody max. Basically the same boot but the lower rubber on the elite is camo and slightly stiffer. Very comfortable boot, but they get hot if you walk a lot when it's not really cold. I'd like to get some thinner/ shorter ones for early season.

What size do you need? If they fit you, 1/2 retail. Barely used.

Thanks man, good info there... I like the look of that Woody Elite, and I am going for a deep winter hunting boot. I walk less than a mile, so that is not an issue. I am just ready to get away from a Rocky leather lace up boot.

You guys tuck all layers into the boots, or just base layers and pull your bibs over the top?

I wear anywhere from a 10.5 to an 11.5 depending... not sure how they fit.

Favorite boots I've ever owned. Keep my feet warm and dry, and feel better than my tennis shoes. Can't go wrong with them.

They had a sale last year 50% off and I bought a pair for me and one for a buddy of mine.

Great boots.

This, I can't fit my bibs in it. Sometimes when I wear bibs I roll the boots down for the walk to the stand so they don't get too hot. I don't do it without bibs because I usually have to go through a lot of briars and they grab and snag the insulation.

The only reason I went with the elite over the max is that I have a bad ankle and need all the support I can get on those MS hills. And it was only $10 more.

All of these boots look great... Thanks to the OB posters for some quality comments. I was really looking to see if there was just one brand that far outweighed the other. I think, right now at least, I am gonna see what the Lacrosse offers me in sizes and colors.

I would prolly catch hell from the guy who recommended the Alphaburly if I didn't get em. You know how that goes. Anyway, thanks again guys.

Muck Boots aren't bad a little expensive for what you get. I just wear the basic lacrosse knee highs and I love em. They fit tight around the ankle so when your'e in some thick shite they don't slide off.
