That is a good budget upper.

I insist on a chrome-lined bore & chamber.

One advantage to buying a complete upper is that they check the headspace & test fire for function.

No because the upper is mid length and those handrails are carbine length.

I really don't see the advantage of doing that over doing the free floated rail.

More than I am comfortable spending right now. That's all. If I could find the one you recommended minus the bcg and charging handle I'd buy that right now to hold me over.

They have plenty similar just not that exact one most likely. Basically any 16" mlok hanguard midlength has system will work doesn't have to be stainless. Preferably nitride over phosphate

I guess it was just easier for me because I went ahead and bought an armor's wrench when I decided to build and already owned a torque wrench. Upper was a breeze but some of the small parts on the lower were a PITA

If I were looking for something on a budget I'd be on the lookout for one of the previous gen Sig 556's

Looking at what is available on PSA I really like this setup. Uses a pencil barrel instead of a government profile. That means about 1/4 lbs less weight. Free-float with mlok. Personally I've bought my last government profile barrel. I've got no use for all of that extra metal hanging on the end of the barrel.

How do y'all attach your pressure switches to your handguards? I have a Viridian Illuminator with an oversized pad so it's not your typical size tape switch size.

If it was, I 'd get one of these. LINK

tape (as the name implies) wrapped around, velco strap done the same as tape or get a $$$ fancy schmancy tape switch mount from whatever brand is currently trending.

I was leaning towards velcro on a to begin with since they don't make anything the right size for this one
