If you are getting an optima, you want a blue top.

I bought a size 27 deep cycle Duracell from Sams for $89.00. That is the best price I have found.

was talking to a guy at Academy and he had been doing a lot of research on batteries and the companies that make them. He said that Exide had filed chapter 11 but they were a huge company......He was about to get 3 of the Exide "fiberglass mat" batteries for his boat. they are on sale and have a rebate that gets them down to $100 per battery.

I'm surprised there were no Interstate suggestions. I thought those were to battries as Xerox is to copy machines.

For the low, low everyday price of 2,299.99, and you we'll throw in terminal corrosion inhibitors and voltage meter a $20 value absolutely free. Wait that's not all ....

Gel will be excellent for your trolling motor...not so much for cranking a motor though. You're best bet is an Odyssey or Optima Yellow or Blue Top.

ETA: If Exide is really filing Ch. 11, there is a reason for that. Stay away. Used to sell them and we eventually dropped them for another supplier.

If you are getting an expensive battery, go sears diehard platinum. Best warranty, you can get them or warranty them at any sears, and its a rebranded odyssey, which are considered the best. I think it's like an eight year warranty.

Optimas are hit or miss. They changed plants a few years back.

Not a big fan of the Optima's either. They don't handle the pounding very well.

Yeah, only bad thing. I got a yellow top at a good price from my old job a while back and had great luck. Meanwhile, we had one guy come in twice to exchange blue tops that kept dying on him.

Yup I returned three before getting my money back. Have heard numerous stories in both boating and offroad worlds.
