When I started working offshore 1981 they sent me to Bay Marchand (Fourchon). The crew was mostly Cutoff/ Galliano locals and called it "Fort of July." They couldn't figure out how this Columbia (Monroe) redneck got hired. Then one guy exclaims " McKeetin connection!" Reference to former Governor John McKeithen from Columbia. I just let them believe it.
